Clarke & Roskrow Styling Opticians has just scooped a prestigious Federation of Master Builders Award for our renovation and refurbishment project here at 18 Church Street. Our builder and project manager James Barby of Rockingham Construction received the award for Best Commercial Project (Midlands Region) at a gala-dinner in Stratford-upon-Avon on 21st June.
The Master Builder Awards has been a flagship for high-quality building work since 1999. The awards programme recognises the hard work and contribution that small and medium-sized construction firms make to the UK construction industry.
Our renovation and refurbishment project was 18-months in the design and planning, and 7-months in the making, and involved the careful demolition, renovation and refurbishment of all three floors and cellar of the property. The practice remained open throughout, with only an extended closure over Christmas to allow for the demolition and removal of a load-bearing wall in the reception area and the removal of the old staircase and installation of its replacement. Watching the guys take the old staircase out through the front window of the practice is something I shall never forget! The hard work and disruption has all been worthwhile as we now have a beautiful building to work in and a fabulous environment for our clients.
I’m delighted that James and his team at Rockingham Construction have won this award in recognition for their fantastic craftsmanship, exceptional customer service and building excellence.
Our project will now go forward to the national awards to be held at the end of September. Fingers crossed we’ll scoop the national award!
